Gayathri Veeranagouda Patil joined Saadhya Residential Special School, Hosapete, on 15 June 2019 with significant behavioural and learning challenges. She was highly hyperactive, impulsive, and aggressive, struggled to concentrate, had difficulty following instructions, and showed limited interest in academics. Despite these challenges, she was independent in basic self-care activities and demonstrated good memory skills.

Through structured special education, behavioural interventions, individualized teaching, and continuous support from teachers and her family, Gayathri showed remarkable progress. She developed improved self-control, classroom discipline, communication, and social skills. Academically, she learned to read and write Kannada and English, improved her mathematics skills, and gained functional knowledge of time, money, and daily living concepts.

Gayathri also excelled in sports and extracurricular activities. She actively participated in school events and discovered exceptional talent in powerlifting. She represented Karnataka at the national level, won Gold Medals in three events at the National Powerlifting Championship, and was selected for a national training camp in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. She now aspires to represent India internationally.

Gayathri’s journey demonstrates how structured special education, behavioural support, parental involvement, and opportunities in sports can transform the life of a child with special needs, enabling her to achieve confidence, independence, and national recognition.
