Livelihood Program for Adults with IDD

A livelihood program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) focused on six product lines: candles, Rakhi, beaded jewellery, handwoven textiles, organic Holi colors, and paper bags. It uses structured, accessible training, quality systems, and market linkages to create sustainable income and skill development.

Objectives

  • Provide dignified, sustainable income opportunities.
  • Build fine motor, cognitive, social, and vocational skills.
  • Ensure safe, inclusive, and fair work environments.
  • Produce consistent, market-ready handcrafted products.

Training & Support

  • Individual skill assessment and personalized goals.
  • Visual step-by-step SOPs and task breakdowns.
  • Small-group facilitation (1:4–6 ratio).
  • Peer mentoring and repetitive, structured learning.

Production Lines (Key Features)

  • Candles: tealights/jars; controlled melting, QC on weight and wick alignment.
  • Rakhi: thread/bead designs; seasonal production before Raksha Bandhan.
  • Beaded Jewellery: patterned necklaces/bracelets with simple assembly systems.
  • Weaving: looms with pre-set warps; simple patterns and finishing tools.
  • Holi Colors: flower -based powders; safe mixing, seasonal (Dec–Mar).
  • Paper Bags: kraft bags with jigs for folding, gluing, and strength testing.

Sales & Branding

  • Local fairs, schools, cafés, and corporate stalls.
  • Online sales via WhatsApp, Instagram, and simple websites.
  • Corporate gifting and seasonal hampers.
  • Consistent branding with eco-friendly positioning.
