Mariam Aila joined Saadhya Residential Special School and Vocational Training Centre, Hosapete, on 9 November 2021 with severe developmental delays caused by neonatal jaundice and a 90% hearing impairment. At admission, she had no neck control, could not sit or walk independently, had poor social interaction, and depended entirely on others for daily activities.

Through 4.5 years of physiotherapy, sensory stimulation, and individualized training, Mariam achieved remarkable progress. She developed neck control, learned to stand and walk independently, improved her fine motor skills, and became independent in eating, dressing, and basic daily activities. She also became socially interactive, communicates through gestures, participates in group activities, and enjoys games and cycling.

Academically, Mariam progressed from simple dot-joining to writing basic numbers and letters and matching pictures, numbers, and alphabets. Despite her hearing impairment, she continues to make steady progress.

Mariam’s journey highlights the impact of early intervention, consistent therapy, dedicated teachers, and strong family involvement in helping children with multiple disabilities achieve greater independence and an improved quality of life.
